Costume and Props

We plan for our actors to where mundane clothing to emphasise the situation and environment in which our film opening is set. This will heighten the verisimilitude of the situation and help the audience relate to the characters.

For the Dad, he will be dressed in jeans, shirt, jumper and a jacket when he goes out to the shop. The jacket helps establish the time of year as it symbolises the winter outside, with it being cold and dark. The jacket, won't be too flash as we want the Dad to represent an average male Londoner. We hope for him to dress in something not too dissimilar from this selection:

With our film opening being set on the weekend, the eldest daughter will be dressed casually, in a jumper and jeggings. Other teenagers will be able to relate to her fashion statements and be able to discuss her clothes after the film has finished.

The youngest daughter will be dressed in a brightly coloured dress or skirt to make her seem as cute as possible and therefore the audience take an immediate liking towards her.

The props used in our opening are primarily associated with the youngest daughter, as they are her music box and toys. These will add to the cute image of her and altogether make it more powerful and upsetting when she is kidnapped.
